#9 A single Drop of Rain

A Single Drop of Rain

Drops of rain rested on my window
not sliding down,
as if they were afraid
to get to the bottom
and be sucked into the maelstrom below.
Puddles incurring debt
to the shrinking sun,
dust motes
bombed by invading sunlight,
ants not running fast enough
to escape the swirling mass.
Like a solar eclipse,
suddenly all goes quiet
when all we were expecting
was darkness.
And out of this chaos,
years away,
raindrops sit on my window.
