#7 Sun Tea
Sun Tea
I steeped myself
in the warm sun
like tea brewed in sunlight.
You stretched out beside me,
as languid as my cat
on a sunny windowsill.
I wanted to cross
that distance between us.
"Your lips are sweeter than honey,"
I whispered.
You sighed and rolled away.
"I don't like tea," you said,
then got up and walked away.
I steeped myself
in the warm sun
like tea brewed in sunlight.
You stretched out beside me,
as languid as my cat
on a sunny windowsill.
I wanted to cross
that distance between us.
"Your lips are sweeter than honey,"
I whispered.
You sighed and rolled away.
"I don't like tea," you said,
then got up and walked away.
