#15 Rapture

Rapture
He was never happy being happy,
because he expected more.
Moonlight moved in his veins
and he felt alive.
When the darkness swallowed him,
he swam through the caves
like they were portals to light,
but he would get lost underground
and believe he was on top of the world.
The light refracted at 2 a.m.
and played with him,
throwing shadows in his path.
When the night began to turn gray
and then light
skittered across the grass,
he slunk back inside himself,
afraid to see the day,
afraid to see himself.
